Most people I know like to say I was born in the water. Maybe that's because I basically was, seeing as how I was more or less thrown into it before I could even walk. My life has always revolved around the water, I grew up on the pool decks of Chicagoland and at the iconic city beaches on Lake Michigan.
As a third generation water polo player on both sides of my family, I grew up playing water polo with my siblings, and always looked up to the legacy of my grandfathers, Jim "Moose" Mulcrone and Phil Stelnicki. I attended high school at St. Ignatius College Prep in the heart of downtown Chicago, and became apart of the team that would help me becoming the IHSA Water Polo Player of the Year in 2011. During my summers in-between high school seasons I spent my time lifeguarding at Chicago's number one beach on the Lakefront, North Avenue Beach, or, as what we like to call "The Center of the Universe."
When talking about my college athletic journey, you could say I ended up taking the scenic route. First, I attended Iona College and played D1 water polo for three years. Here, I had the amazing opportunity to compete in the NCAA championships twice! During the following year, I took some time off school to travel around Europe! Afterwards, to finish playing the sport I love, I headed to California to soak up the sun, where I attended University of LaVerne, just outside of Los Angeles. Currently, I have decided to put focus on school here in Chicago to finish up my degree in Chemistry.
My life in the water has brought me across the country - Chicago, New York and Los Angeles are all places I've called home, and looking forward to where it will bring me next!
