With Christmas lights going up and temperatures going down, we thought you could use some inspiration to get off the couch and get on the water this winter. Here are seven fun ways to stay active and get on the water this holiday season:
Natural Hot Springs: Sure there’s Jacuzzis and those hot springs you have to pay for. But we’re talking about an oasis of warmth in the midst of a winter wonderland! It’ll be well worth the hike, just make sure to wear a jacket over your Jolyn! Hop on the Internet or ask around, there’s probably some pools closer than you think. If you’re in California check out Mammoth hot springs!
Holiday Boat Parade: Most harbors host holiday boat parades. If you own a boat or know someone who does, get creative with your decorating skills and cruise the water at night in a spectacle of lights. Even if you’re landlocked, it’s still an event well worth going to.
Standup Paddle: Despite the cold, standup paddling is an ideal way to get on the water this winter. If you’re just paddling the flatwater, layer up and you’ll stay toasty warm. If you plan on hitting the surf better put on some thicker neoprene. To make an event out of it, grab some friends and dress up in holiday attire. Make sure to take pics and tag Jolyn!
Surf: Who cares if it’s winter. Obviously you should surf. And obviously you should wear a Santa hat. Try one of our newest Onesies, the Ash or the Jackson, perfect stay-put suits to wear solo or under your wettie!
Ice Skating: We know it’s not the kind of water you normally think of, but it’s still water, only frozen. And it’s the perfect holiday outing with friends!
Snow: If you aren’t lucky enough to live somewhere where it snows, lots of communities will host holiday events with artificial snow! Perhaps your neighborhood has a “Candy Cane Lane,” complete with spectacular lights, decorations, and hourly snow showers.
Holiday 5K: We know you’ve been sneaking some extra goodies this holiday season. Even though it’s not directly on the water, you might want to try out a holiday 5K, 10K, or if you’re feeling so adventurous, a half marathon. Many offer prizes for best holiday costume! When else will get to run the streets dressed as Santa?
