MOTIVATIONAL MONDAYS // KATHERINE 'MOOSE' WARREN

MOOSE!Screen Shot 2013-07-22 at 8.59.48 PM Retired Pro Triathlete, Swim Coach, Swimmer, Biker, Runner, and Adventurer Blog:  Moose Tracking Instagram: @SBRmoose If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 things, what would they be: My running shoes, sunshine, and my housemate, Tina! She provides me with endless entertainment and is the best adventure/travel buddy!  Who is your favorite athlete: Right now, I love Lauren Fleshman. She's a pro runner, a mom, a published writer, started her own energy bar company, and is a huge promotor of women in sport. She isn't afraid to share the ups and downs of life, and that makes her so real and lovable. If you were 60 years old, what would you tell your children: I would tell them to wake up every day and choose to be happy (it's a choice!). Invest in true friends and surround yourself with good company.  What's your favorite JOLYN style and why: I love the vent top! The water doesn't catch and drag my top down. I swear I swim faster without a big pocket of water at my chest! If you had to be an animal, what would you be and why: An octopus, so I could give 8 high-fives at once. What activities do you do in JOLYN: SWIM! I've also played some beach volleyball in my Jolyn and it was perfect! What's the most inspiring race you've ever seen: Hands down Jason Lezak anchoring the 400 Free relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. It gets me every time! How do you like to cross train? or What is your favorite cross training activity: I love to hike! After dedicating so much time training to be fast, it is nice to slow down and soak in each step. What book would you recommend to our readers: When I was younger I thought I wanted to be a movie critic. I love to see movies that are based on books, so I am currently reading Unbroken. It kept me up until 10:15 which means it's really good! Zamperini led an inspirational life. What inspires you: It's a hard thing to describe, but when you see someone in their element. When they're 100% fulfilling their purpose, it's like you can see them shining. What is something that nobody knows about you: Why I'm called Moose. It started when I was 6 but I can't tell you why, or I'd have to kill you. What would you spend your last $10 on: Whole Foods salad bar. On a Wednesday. Because it's $2 off. What is your signature dish in the kitchen: I'm most famous among my friends for a cabbage cake I made for my 21st birthday. Needless to say it did not go over well and everyone left with the toots. I haven't dared attempt it again. What is the hardest thing you've ever experienced: Retiring from triathlon. I tell people that big dreams die hard. It is difficult to leave something you love, but my health became more important. What is your favorite workout or gym exercise: I love circuit training. Even when I was a swimmer, the days where each lane was different, and we were in and out of the water and running around campus in our bathing suits doing squats and med ball exercises-I felt like such a little kid! What is your favorite holiday destination: I live on holiday! Santa Barbara is my paradise. Any last words or testimonial? I can honestly say that I'm 25 and living my dream. I get to wake up each day in my favorite place in the world and do the things I love and am passionate about. I'm not sure many people can say that! 58334_442709371906_549476906_5132582_7720130_ncollegiate nats swim fearless3598760_455526481186914_89023217_nIMG_0553climb23fearless110495825_10102750880644991_8106777424398521923_o14011506966901385946163305IMG958183MG950366994511_10102525429865137_638100886_n
